Greetings
Here in Taiwan people mostly seem to greet you by acknowledging your presence rather than by using a specific greeting. If you come from the shop, they might well say "So, you've been shopping,"meaning "Hi." Unless of course it's a superior, in which case you'd just use their title as a greeting, like "Vice President" for your VP. The traditional Chinese-language greeting is "Have you eaten," or, literally, "Have you had rice yet?" and that can still be heard quite often. A friend of ours uses nothing but the Taiwanese version of that greeting: "Are you full?" If you reply "Full" then everything's fine. You could eat your fill today again.
