Bus driver

We took the bus back to Taibei from Jinshan today, waved it down where there wasn't a bus stop.

Driver on the Taibei bus, in Taiwanese: Where are you going?
D: Taibei.
-So why do you get on here?
-My folks live here.
-You're together, are you? Nodding towards me.
-Yes.
-Where's he from?
Me, in Taiwanese: Sweden.
-Huh?!
In Chinese: Sweden.
-Oh. North Europe. 6 million inhabitants. No sun, night 24 hours a day.
-9 million, and only in the very north, a couple of months in winter.
Slipping into Taiwanese again: They speak English, don't they? (It's a well known fact in Taiwan that English is the national language of every Western country with white people)
D: -No, they have their own language, Swedish.
-It's a strong nation.
-Not exactly strong maybe, but quite advanced.
-They must be advanced. He married you.
We try not to laugh because he is very serious.
-How did you two meet?
-Third degree, huh?
-Well, Taiwan, Sweden, where?
-Taipei.

New passengers, conversation ends.
