Another view of Taipei

The weather has been absolutely outstanding the last week, so when the Professor came here, I suggested that we do some walking in the mountains around Taipei. Today, then, we went to Sishou Shan, or Four Beasts Mountain, because there is an Elephant Peak, a Tiger Peak and something else that never really registered. Oh, yes, a Thumb Peak and a 9 5 Peak, too. Can't remember the other two beasts, though.

To hear cikadas and birds in Taipei while watching the ubiquitous 101 (it really is everywhere you are these days. if you don't see it physically, it's in an ad somewhere within eyeshot) is something you don't really expect. The walk took us about 3 hours, since, once we got to the Elephant Peak, the Prof decided he wanted to walk to Nangang and Academia Sinica. So he did, and we walked with him until our paths divided. We'll see him again in a few months though, either here or in Hong Kong.

Too tired afterwards, otherwise it would have been real nice to finish it all off with a cool beer and a nice meal at Carnegie's, sitting in their outdoor serving area and looking at people getting off work.
