New Year's
We turned the TV on for a few minutes around midnight during our New Year's gathering to get the time for the countdown and see the fireworks at 101. They turned out to be alright, I guess, but on the top section of 101, it said 2006 BRAVIA by Sony in huge letters across the facade. It was there on all four sides.

Yet no one knew what a Bravia was.
Sony sponsored the fireworks, and in return, they got to advertise their latest TV brand, Bravia, on the building. That is so cheap. The lack of class. The world's tallest building should be promoted as the landmark it is, especially with Taiwan trying to place itself on the world map as a tourist destination (yes). Someone has now managed to reduce it to being the world's tallest billboard, a fact that was probably broadcast to quite a few places around the world -- it is, after all, a strange way to advertise the world's tallest building.
